Bow
The bow is one of the five ranged weapons in New World. It’s actually one of the best in this category given its powerful shots compared to the others. The major downside is that the arrows are actually affected by gravity, so it requires a certain skill level in aiming and hitting targets.
That’s a bit different from the musket whose bullets are hitscan, eliminating the need to account for gravity when shooting. Generally, though, the bow scores better in speed and mobility – both of which help with a host of dodge capabilities.
It deals thrust damage which scales exclusively with Dexterity, so you know where to spend your attribute points if the bow is your weapon of choice. The damage here will depend on the draw – short draws will deal 100% of weapon damage and long draws 170%.
The bow’s mastery is made up of the Skirmisher and Hunter trees; each with specific masteries that further enhance the weapon’s ability.
The Skirmisher increases the player’s speed while simultaneously slowing down enemies. Dodge and Weave and Archer’s Speed are certainly notable here, helping a bow wielder to travel a bit faster than normal.
The Hunter tree works to maximize the bow’s damage and increase the arrows’ speed.
